Scheduling
Lessons are scheduled weekly (breaks considered) and will be the same day and time each week unless otherwise scheduled.
Lesson Length and Price
- 1-Hour lesson costs are $50
- 30-minute lesson costs are $30
Tuition
Tuition is due at the beginning of the month for scheduled lessons for the month. Makeup lessons may be offered but should only be used in special circumstances as scheduling can often be difficult. Please give 24 hour notice for cancellations and i will try and work with you on a makeup schedule.
EXPECTATIONS
Parents:
- Have students to arrive on time
- Provide access and distraction free time for student to practice
- Encourage practice and performance for family and friends
- Support daily practice and review of practice notes as it is recommended to practise 20 minutes at least a day
Students:
- Arrive on time
- Practice daily, at least 20 minutes a day.
- Have trimmed nails
- Do not chew gum during lesson
- Practice after the lesson aids in the memory of what was learned
Teacher:
- Create and implement a plan for the student
- Aid students in techniques, sight reading, ear training and performing
- Teach students how to practice and encourage performance
- Give students time and attention to help develop skill
- Teach music theory and rhythm exercises to create a better understanding of music
Music books and equipment
I prefer students to purchase their own music scores and books from the music store. I will offer suggested materials for the student. However, at times, I can provide music for the student in which the cost is added to next month’s tuition fee. I encouraage students to share what they want to play and what they want to work on as well. However, there is an understanding that music skills will have to be developed to advance to certain pieces. My goal is to teach music for the pupil to understand the concepts in addition to learning the notes.
